Adding medicine to your account

The different ways to add medicine to your account, plus why you might not see the option to add or remove medicine.

Updated over a year ago

Before ordering a medicine, you need to add it to your account.

You only need to add each medicine the first time you order it. After that, it will stay on your account unless you remove it.

There are a few ways to add medicine to your account:

  • Connect with NHS to add it automatically

  • Search for a medicine

  • Scan a medicine barcode on mobile or tablet

Connect with NHS

If you log in using NHS login or you’ve connected with your GP’s online services, your account will be connected to the NHS system. This means it will always reflect the medicines your GP has on file for you, and you won’t need to add medicine manually.

Search for a medicine

  1. Go to Medicine.

  2. Select Add medicine.

  3. Type the name of the medicine into the search bar.

  4. From the list that appears, choose your medicine then select Continue.
Note: Check the dosage if there’s more than one option. When you order, your GP will also check you’ve added it correctly.

  5. Enter the date you’re due to run out of this medicine.

  6. Select Add this medicine.

Your new medicine should appear in your medicine list. To make sure you always have enough, we’ll remind you to order again 10 to 14 days before you’re due to run out.

Scan a medicine barcode

For: LloydsDirect app on iOS or Android.

  1. Open the LloydsDirect app.

  2. Go to Medicine.

  3. Tap Add medicine.

  4. Tap Scan medicine barcode.
Note: Because this uses your device camera, you'll need to allow LloydsDirect to take pictures and record video.

  5. Point your device camera at the barcode on the medicine pack. Make sure the barcode appears inside the rectangle on your screen.
Tip: The barcode is usually found on the back or side of your medicine packs.

  6. After the barcode scans, enter the date you’re due to run out of this medicine.

  7. Tap Add medicine.

Your new medicine should appear in your medicine list. To make sure you always have enough, we’ll remind you to order again 10 to 14 days before you’re due to run out.

Not see the option to add medicine?

If you log in using NHS login or you’re connected with your GP’s online services, you will not be able to add or remove medicines yourself.

Your LloydsDirect account will be connected directly to the NHS system. This means it will always reflect the medicines on your GP’s repeat medicine list, and only your GP can add or remove medicines.
